Romeoville Cops Offer Basketball Lessons, Mentoring For Kids

Parents have until May 10 to enroll their kids in the Romeoville Police Department Youth Athletic Club program.

ROMEOVILLE, IL -- Officers will serve as mentors during the Romeoville Police Department Youth Athletic Club free youth mentoring summer basketball program, free to kids ages 9 to 11 from June 14 to July 19 at the Romeoville Recreation Center, 900 W. Romeo Road. Applications are available at all Romeoville elementary schools. Completed applications are due to the Romeoville police records department, 1050 W. Romeo Road, by Wednesday, May 10.

"Romeoville Police Department officers will be present as mentors to participants, helping to shape them into outstanding citizens while building character and strengthening basketball skills," police said in a press release. "This is a great opportunity to make friends, refine your basketball skills and play basketball in a safe, controlled and drug-free environment."

Two sessions are available: Session 1 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or Session 2 from 1 to 3 p.m. Time slots will be based on session availability.
