Shorewood's Huge I-55 Warehouse Almost Done
Are you excited to see the new distribution center at the Heartland Corporate Center?

SHOREWOOD, IL - Last Friday, one of the few no-shows who apparently could not attend the large groundbreaking festivities for Joliet's Rock Run Crossings along Interstate 55 was Shorewood Mayor Rick Chapman. It was explained at Friday's gala that Joliet had been pressured for years to build more warehouses and distribution centers at that location, but Joliet wanted something bigger and better.
Directly across Interstate 55 from Rock Run Crossings is Shorewood, where a major warehouse development is taking place. The Heartland Corporate Center is a 757,880-square-foot warehouse building near I-80 and I-55. The construction encompasses a 46-acre parcel and includes 108 truck loading docks and 240 parking spaces for employees and visitors.
Patch visited the site this past weekend to capture several photos. It's clear that construction is practically done. However, landscaping work is still needed. Last August, Patch reported that the Heartland Corporate Center was planning for a tenant occupancy in early 2019.

At this point, it remains unclear what company will occupy the space and how soon that will happen. Large billboards facing I-55 advise travelers that the site is still available.
