17 Shot, 2 Dead In Separate Mass Shootings: Chicago Police
Eleven people were shot, one fatally, in Marquette Park Sunday night. Two hours earlier, six people were shot, one fatally, in South Shore.

CHICAGO, IL — Two separate mass shootings Sunday night on Chicago's South Side left 17 people shot, with two dead so far, police said. The attacks occurred within two hours of one another and ended with one woman dead at each scene.
Eleven people were gathered in the Marquette Park neighborhood around 10:55 p.m. when police said a group of three men emerged from an alley and fired shots into the crowd. Of those shot, one woman was pronounced dead, and two others are in serious condition. The gathering took place on the 6300 block of South Artesian Avenue, police said in a media notification.
About two hours earlier, six people were shot by a person in a black SUV in the 200 block of East 71st Street in South Shore, including a 15-year-old.

Kristina Grimes, 23, died shortly after this attack, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. Authorities said she was shot six times.
A police spokeswoman said the department is following leads but would not say if the shootings were connected.

Victims from the Marquette Park shooting range in age from 21 to 57. While most are listed in good condition, 29-year-old and 34-year-old men were in serious condition, police said.
In South Shore, victims' ages ranged from 15 to 21.
As of Monday, no arrests had been made and no description of the gunmen has been provided.
