2 Shot In Morning Rush Hour On I-55, At Least 40 Rounds Found
The woman and man were driving south on Stevenson Expressway Wednesday morning near Cicero Avenue when their car was shot, police said.
CHICAGO — A man and woman were shot during the Wednesday morning rush hour shooting on I-55 hear Cicero Avenue. According to news reports, as many as 40 bullets hit the victims’ car.
The shooting happened around 8:30 a.m. Feb. 24 in the southbound lane of the Stevenson Expressway near Cicero Avenue. The 46-year-old woman and 20-year-old man, both of Chicago, managed to drive themselves to a Shell gas station at 53rd Street and Harlem in Summit. Both were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening gunshot wounds.
Illinois State Police said a preliminary investigation revealed the man and woman were traveling southbound near Cicero Avenue when the vehicle was struck by gunfire. Authorities shut down all southbound lanes of I-55 at Pulaski Avenue from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
