5-Year-Old Boy Hit By SUV In Possible Road Accident In Chatham
The child was in the street when he may have gotten caught in the middle of a road rage incident that began on the expressway, CPD said.
CHICAGO — A 5-year-old boy was hit by a car Wednesday afternoon on Chicago’s South Side. Chicago police think the vehicle may be involved in a road rage incident that started on the expressway.
Around 4:45 p.m., blue SUV and a red sedan drive by a 49-year-old man, got involved in a road rage incident that started on the expressway. The two vehicles ended up in the 8800 block of South Michigan Avenue in Chatham.
Both vehicles were traveling north on Michigan Avenue, when police said the SUV struck the boy who was in the street. The 49-year-old driver of the red sedan crashed. Police are describing him as a "victim."

The SUV was last seen fleeing the area, heading west. The boy suffered blunt trauma on the left side of his body. A family member took the boy to St. Bernard Hospital. The child has since been transferred to Comer Children’s Hospital in stable condition.
CPD Area Two detectives are investigating. Illinois State Police are taking the lead for the possible altercation occurred on the expressway. The Illinois State Police could not be immediately reached for comment.
