ALDI Celebrates Re-Grand Opening Of South Side Store

CHICAGO – ALDI will welcome shoppers back to its renovated South Side store when it reopens Thursday, July 11. The store, at 4934 S. Kedzie Ave., is part of a $1.9 billion initiative to remodel and expand more than 1,300 ALDI stores nationwide by the end of 2020. Locally, ALDI is investing $180 million to update more than 130 stores in Chicago and the Chicagoland area by the end of 2020.

To celebrate the Chicago store reopening, ALDI will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, July 11, at 8:25 a.m., followed by its popular Golden Ticket giveaway offering gift cards to the first 100 customers. Shoppers can also sample ALDI-exclusive brand foods and enter a sweepstakes for a chance to win a year’s supply of ALDI produce.

The updated Chicago ALDI store layout features expansive refrigeration space to accommodate the fresh, healthy and convenient products people want most. ALDI recently expanded its product offerings, making 20 percent of its total selection new. This expansion includes a 40 percent increase in its fresh food selection, with many organic, convenient and easy-to-prepare options. ALDI stores also feature open ceilings, natural lighting and environmentally friendly building materials. The store will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.

Stores are easier to navigate and have more space for the products people love the most,” said David Zalunardo in a news release, the Valparaiso division vice president. “We can’t wait to show our customers in Chicago their newly remodeled store, and continue providing the affordable, high-quality foods we know they love at ALDI.”

To make grocery shopping even easier for its growing customer base, ALDI launched a partnership with online grocery delivery service Instacart. The service is available at ALDI stores in locations where Instacart currently delivers. Customers who are interested in ordering ALDI products through Instacart can check if the service is available to them by searching aldi.us/en/grocery-delivery.
