APCC Announces Organization’s First Chief Program Officer

As the first CPO, Christy Beighe-Byrne will research and implement best practices for APCC programs.

APCC (Albany Park Community Center), a community organization offering early childhood education, school age programs, adult education, employment and training and counseling programs to those in need, is pleased to announce the appointment of its new chief program officer (CPO), Christy Beighe-Byrne, M.A. As the first CPO in APCC’s history, Beighe-Byrne brings a diverse range of experience to the organization as an experienced social worker and youth development program administrator.

“We are thrilled to have Ms. Beighe-Byrne join us as Chief Program Officer,” said Monica Woodson, CEO, APCC. “Her commitment and extensive experience in social work, development and non-profit management will be a wonderful asset to our organization. I am very excited for all that Ms. Beighe-Byrne will bring to APCC and how she will define this new position.”

Beighe-Byrne will be researching and implementing best practices and new and innovative approaches for APCC’s Early Childhood Education, School Age and Adult Education and Workforce Development Programs.

“I am very excited to be a part of a team of dynamic leaders, educators, social workers, employment specialists and support staff that are working towards empowering our youth, families and community,” said Beighe-Byrne. “I hope to assist APCC in sustaining a culture of accountability, responsiveness, and foster best practices in the field.”

Prior to her new appointment, Beighe-Byrne served as a program manager at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Chicago where she increased the match goal by 50 percent and conducted a targeted recruitment effort. At Chicago Youth Centers, Beighe-Byrne served as the Center Director where she planned, implemented and evaluated youth programming while successfully growing funding. Beighe-Byrne also teaches students at DePaul University as an adjunct faculty member in the Peace, Social Justice and Conflict Studies department. She teaches courses related to leadership development, restorative justice and multiculturalism in the United States.

Beighe-Byrne began in the youth development field during college at Post University where she was a part of AmeriCorps. There, she developed her passion for working with youth and families in urban communities. Later, she obtained her master’s degree in social service administration from the University of Chicago.
