Chicago Police To Set Up DUI Saturation Patrol In Morgan Park
The operation, which will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday, is designed to identify moving violations as well as impaired driving offenses.
CHICAGO, IL – The Chicago Police Department will conduct a DUI saturation patrol in the Beverly, Mt. Greenwood and Morgan Park neighborhoods this weekend that is designed to place a number of patrol cars in the area to monitor signs of impaired driving, police officials announced on Wednesday.
The patrol is scheduled to begin from 7 p.m. Saturday and run until 3 a.m. on Sunday. In addition to searching for impaired drivers, the patrol also focuses on vehicle speed and alcohol-related and seatbelt violations. Police vehicles equipped with speed detection devices are also dispatched to apprehend speeding violators, according to a news release announcing this weekend's initiative.
In addition, the Chicago Police Department's Breath Alcohol Testing mobile unit may also be deployed to assist officers to expedite the process of charging a person with driving under the influence prior to transporting offenders to the nearest lockup facility. The mobile unit also allows for individual recognizance bonds to be issued at the site of the DUI saturation patrol, police said.
