CHICAGO — A new season of America's favorite past time is upon us, and as always fans of the Chicago White Sox are excited about a new season of baseball on the South Side. The team's home opener that was originally scheduled for Thursday is now set for Friday, April 5, at 1:10 p.m. due to inclement weather.

Here's everything you need to know about the home opener.

Weather: According to the White Sox, Friday’s forecast is for partly sunny skies, dry conditions and high temperatures potentially reaching 60 degrees.

First pitch: White Sox legend Harold Baines will throw out the first pitch.

  • National Anthem performed by Miguel Cervantes, singer/actor known for his role as Alexander Hamilton in the hit Broadway musical “Hamilton”
  • Free T-Shirt Thursday, presented by CIBC: The first 20,000 fans to enter the ballpark will receive a 2019 commemorative Opening Day T-Shirt
  • Ford Drive Around: Introduction of 2019 White Sox players and coaches as they arrive on field in Ford Mustangs
  • Presentation of the flag by 125 White Sox Volunteer Corps members in honor of the program’s 10-year anniversary
  • Flyover by VFA-213 (F/A-18s) of the United States Navy

Parking

Lots at Guaranteed Rate Field will open at 10 a.m. Gates to the ballpark will open at 11 a.m.

Public Transportation

The "Sox 35th" stop in Bronzeville on the CTA Red Line is the nearest CTA stop. The "35th-Bronzeville-IIT" stop on the Green Line is just three blocks away.

There is also a stop on the Metra Rock Island Line that leaves fans just blocks from the ballpark.

What's New At The Ballpark?

Sensory Room

The White Sox are proud to offer a new sensory room in Suite 460. The space provides
guests needing a therapeutic place to calm and focus themselves to better enjoy the game. It
features textured walls and specialized lighting as well as tools like weighted lap blankets and
chairs to help alleviate sensory overload. The room also will have a play space with field view
for siblings or other guests who don’t want to miss a minute of the game.

Mothers’ Nursing Room

Located near Section 352, this space provides a clean and relaxing space for nursing
women. The Mothers’ Nursing Room features comfortable chairs, electrical outlets for pumps
as well as a television to keep up with the game. Fans can access the space by visiting a
Guest Relations Booth behind home plate on all levels of the ballpark.

Charities Corner

The Charities Corner is a one-stop shop to support White Sox Charities. Located behind
Section 154, fans will have the opportunity to support various activations on game days,
including: memorabilia auctions, Sox Split sales presented by Wintrust, bobblehead sales
and more. Fans are encouraged to stop by to learn how they can participate in White Sox
community outreach initiatives, helping make Chicago a better place to live, work and play!

The Goose Island

The White Sox have teamed up with the Goose Island Beer Company for a new seating area
in the right-field corner called “The Goose Island.” The exclusive area features a variety of
seating options, including three rows of premium, leather chairs with cup holders, personal
TVs, device charging ports and in-seat service. The concourse-level portion of the space
features a walk-up bar with a variety of Goose Island products. Tickets and additional
information are available at whitesox.com/gooseisland.

New Food

There will also be several new food items offered for sale at the park for the first time in 2019.
