CHICAGO, IL — A South Side mom and her boyfriend are under investigation for neglect following the death of a newborn baby boy this week. The infant, just 7 days old, died Wednesday morning at Comer Children's Hospital.
Chicago Police were called to the 6400 block of South Cottage Grove in Woodlawn at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday for an "unresponsive" infant. An autopsy was conducted Thursday.
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, which is investigating the death, has had no prior contact with the family.
