Huddle House Restaurant Coming To Calumet Heights Next Year
Atlanta-based Huddle House is set to open its first 24-hour diner in Chicago on the South Side, city officials said.

CHICAGO, IL — Atlanta-based Huddle House is scheduled to open its Chicago location in the Calumet Heights neighborhood next year at 9401 S. Stony Island, adjacent to Montclare Senior Residence currently under construction.
Local leaders said Huddle House — known for serving breakfast all day — serves an unmet need in a South Side neighborhood where full-service, sit-down restaurants are scarce. The project, led by local businessmen Sam Elahi, is expected to create 80 jobs.
"Talented and dedicated local entrepreneurs like Sam Elahi show the value of stepping up to lift up our city's most neglected neighborhoods," Lightfoot said in a news release.

"Huddle House will bring needed food alternatives, critical job opportunities and a southern charm and hospitality to our city's South Side. As we continue enriching our city's South and West Sides with our INVEST South/West initiative, I look forward to working closely with Sam and other entrepreneurs who are working hard to bring out the economic vibrancy of the neighborhoods they represent."
Once open, Huddle House will be one of only two eateries in the 8th Ward with non-fast food dine-in options, according to a press release, which should serve a critical need for food alternatives within the Calumet Heights community.

"I am excited to be able to bring Huddle House Restaurant to the 8th Ward and the greater south side community,” Ald. Michelle Harris (8th) said.
“Even as we continue to deal with the impact of the coronavirus, I remain committed to bringing important and necessary resources to our ward. I am excited to add Huddle House as a partner in my efforts to improve the quality of life for my constituents.”
