Most have seen the iconic grouping of four round beehive looking buildings on Cermak Road known as Hilliard Homes. What might not be so well-known is that Holsten Human Capital Development (HHCD), a not-for-profit social service agency, provides affordable housing, on-site programming, and community-building activities to Seniors and Families who reside in the four Hilliard Homes buildings.

Comments Bernice Li, Resident Services Coordinator, “Events of the last four months hit our residents really hard. The stay-in order, which we all observed, made little things we take for granted - like getting food - problematic. Our residents are so grateful for the outpouring of support that the community extended, including Meredith’s Care Partners, Catholic Charities, and the Central Advisory Council of the Chicago Police Department at 35th & South Michigan Avenue. The Chinese American Service League (CASL) was particularly generous, as the organization delivered bags with three meals daily for over four weeks! We remained very mindful of the social distancing guidelines throughout the distribution of the meals.”

Holsten Human Capital Development provides social services to over 3,000 residents in fifteen sites located on Chicago’s northside, southside and westside communities.
