Butter Cow Blunder: 'Bicentennial' Misspelled On State Fair Cow

Report said Butter Cow sculptor feels terrible, very sorry about misspelling.

SPRINGFIELD, IL — Indiana State Fair officials are working on "buttering up" attendees after a misspelling was discovered on the fair's famous Butter Cow display. According to the State Journal-Register, the fair's superintendent said the word "bicentennial" on the cow display has been misspelled, and will be replaced before the large crowds enter the Dairy Building this weekend. The news report said the spelling mistake is on the butter-based sign sitting next to the cow, with one of the buttery Ns in the wrong place.

The 2018 Indiana State Fair kicked off Thursday and the 600-pound creation by sculptor, Sarah Pratt, of West Des Moines, Iowa, is displayed in a spinning refrigerated case.

The State Journal-Register said Pratt was very sorry and felt "terrible" when she was notified about the spelling mistake.
