Butter Cow Makes IL State Fair Debut With Nod To Bicentennial
Butter Cow was sculpted by Sarah Pratt for third year in a row.

SPRINGFIELD, IL — The Illinois State Fair's famous Butter Cow is out and ready for the fun to begin on Thursday. According to the fair's Facebook page, Butter Cow made its debut on Wednesday inside the Dairy Building. The state fair started Thursday.
The State Journal-Register reported the 600 pounds of butter was sculpted by Sarah Pratt of West Des Moines, Iowa for the third year in a row.
The news report said the cow's base makes references to the 200 years of Illinois history, as a way to mark the state's bicentennial. Abraham Lincoln's signature stovepipe hat is also next to the cow.
