CEFCU Invests in Clean Air, Healthy Lungs

Leading Illinois Credit Union sponsors the Fight For Air Climb

Today, the American Lung Association in Illinois announced that CEFCU has signed on as the presenting sponsor for the 10th anniversary of the Fight For Air Climb at Wyndham Springfield City Centre. This is the 10th year that the company has sponsored the event.

The Fight For Air Climb, set for March 24, 2019, attracts thousands of Illinois residents who race up the stairs of Wyndham Springfield City Centre (32 floors, 532 steps) in an effort to raise awareness and money to fight lung disease.

“Through events like the Fight For Air Climb, we are able to fund our work to improve air quality, educate residents on lung health and help people who suffer from lung disease,” said Monica Guerrant, development manager for the Lung Association. “But we can’t do it alone. Our partnership with CEFCU helps us provide vital support to the Springfield community. From funding asthma education, to providing resources to those suffering from lung cancer, this support makes people’s lives better every day.”

CEFCU is an Illinois-based credit union that serves more than 336,000 members. CEFCU’s mission is to provide quality service and products to improve the financial well-being of members.

More than 1.5 million people suffer from lung disease in Illinois, and this year alone, it is estimated that 9,000 will be diagnosed with lung cancer. The Fight For Air Climb raises awareness for lung disease, raises money for life-saving research, and funds critical local programing like educational programs to help local children better manage their asthma and free programs to help locals quit smoking.

Registration for the 2019 Fight For Air Climb is currently open online or by calling 217-787-5864. Climbers can register for a discounted price of $15 before January 12, 2019.
