CEFCU, the leading Central Illinois credit union, agreed to be the presenting sponsor for the American Lung Association in Illinois’ Fight For Air Climb at Wyndham Springfield City Centre, set for February 16.

Through the sponsorship, the company provides monetary support to fund awareness for lung disease, life-saving research, and critical local programs to help local children better manage their asthma and help locals quit smoking.

CEFCU also encourages employees to climb. CEFCU Manager Brent Mason first participated three years ago. Since then, he became more involved by joining the Fight For Air Climb committee to help organize the event.

“The Fight For Air Climb isn’t like a 5K charity race, it is a very unique event to Central Illinois,” said Mason. “I have my medals and other climb materials displayed in my office. They are definitely conversation starters during meetings.”

The company also spreads awareness about the event to their members. Each year, CEFCU hosts a radio station at one of their Springfield Member Centers to recruit climbers for the Fight For Air Climb and raise awareness for lung cancer and lung disease.

“CEFCU is proud to support the American Lung Association and their continued dedication in making a positive impact on lung health,” said Mason. “CEFCU staff and I feel strongly about participating in the Fight For Air Climb event as the funds raised truly make a difference for individuals and families affected by lung disease in our communities.”

The Fight For Air Climb, set for February 16, 2020, attracts hundreds of Illinois residents who race up the stairs of Wyndham Springfield City Centre (32 floors, 532 steps) to raise awareness and money to fight lung disease.
