Celebrating 25 Years of the Springfield Golf Classic

Lung Association charity event supports local programs, lung cancer research

The Springfield Golf Classic, one of the longest-running charity golf tournaments in the region, will host its 25th annual event at the Illini Country Club on June 18, the American Lung Association in Illinois announced today.

“This golf tournament is held at one of the most beautiful golf courses in the Midwest and is a fun networking event for local business leaders,” said Monica Guerrant, special events manager for the Lung Association. “Best of all, 90 percent of all of the proceeds fund local research, educational programs and advocacy efforts in the fight against lung disease.”

The Springfield Golf Classic features two main events, the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois Corporate Cup and the Golf Classic Scramble. Over the years, the Springfield Golf Classic has contributed more than $1.5 million to fight lung disease.

“The Springfield Golf Classic is a great event that our company looks forward to each year,” said Scott Alexander, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois and Corporate Cup Chair. “Not only is it a great day for team building outside of the office, but the funds raised help provide support to people in our community who are facing lung disease.”

Registration for a foursome includes 18 holes at Illini Country Club, cart fees, on-course food and beverage stations, a culinary lunch and a premium gift. Sponsorships and raffle tickets are also available. More information about the Springfield Golf Classic and registration is available here.
