District 212 students honored as SCOTY award winners

Three Leyden high school students are School Citizen of the Year award winners.

West 40 Intermediate Service Center #2 notified Leyden High School District 212 that three of its students have been selected as “School Citizen of the Year” (SCOTY) award winners. The students are: Judith Escamilla and Megan Michorczyk of West Leyden; and John Auge of East Leyden.

The award, created to honor outstanding young people within the West 40 region, recognizes students that have been chosen by their schools as good school citizens and models for others to emulate. Grades and activities are important considerations, but they are only a part of the selection process.

The students will be recognized at a ceremony beginning at 4 p.m., on April 11 in the auditorium at West Leyden. Students receive a medal, certificate and a copy of the School Citizen of the Year honor roll book.
