SPRINGFIELD, IL — George Thorogood and The Destroyers are among the highlights that make up this summer’s musical lineup at the Illinois State Fair as the veteran entertainer that has put on more than 8,000 live shows over his career will take the grandstand stage on the final night of this year’s fair.

Thorogood and his band will perform along with .38 Special on Sunday, Aug. 22, to close out the 11-performance show schedule, which begins with Kane Brown with Restless Band on Friday, Aug. 13.

Thorogood and The Destroyers will present their Good To Be Bad Tour: 45 Years Of Rock, which will take fans of the band down a musical trip down memory lane and that Thorogood said is a testament to the band’s popularity since it started performing in 1976.

“If you’re content, you may as well be dead,” Thorogood said, according to the Illinois State Fair website. “I think everyone has thought about retiring, but the phone keeps ringing.”

He added: "My highlight is every night when I walk on that stage and play our hits for those happy people," he says. "At the end of the show, the audience is smiling, I don't see any police, and everyone got their money's worth."
