Joe Biden Cancels IL State Fair Event Under 'Doctor's Orders'
The former vice president, 75, was slated to be a keynote speaker at the Illinois Democrats County Chairs' Association brunch.

SPRINGFIELD, IL — An undisclosed health issue will keep former Vice President Joe Biden from a scheduled appearance at the Illinois State Fair on Thursday. Biden, 75, was scheduled to be a keynote speaker for the Illinois Democrats County Chairs’ Association brunch in Springfield to kick of Democrats' Day at the Illinois State Fair.
“Everyone who knows Vice President Biden knows that he gives our party and our country his all, but unfortunately he is sick and is under doctor’s orders not to travel," Illinois Democratic County Chairs’ Association President Doug House said in a statement posted on Facebook Tuesday night. "The cancellation is of course disappointing, but it is clear that the circumstances are simply unavoidable. We all hope he gets well soon and I’m sure he’ll be back campaigning for Democrats in Illinois and across the country in no time."
House said despite the cancellation, the brunch will still take place as scheduled.

A spokesman for Biden would not comment on his condition but told WGN he was just under the weather and would "be fine in a few days."
Late last month, Biden and former President Barack Obama made an appearance together, drawing a stir as they stopped to eat at a bakery in Washington, D.C. Days later — on Illinois' first-ever Barack Obama Day — Biden tweeted birthday wishes to the 44th president.

Our lunches together were a highlight of every week at the White House. Last week's trip to @DogTagBakery was no different. Happy birthday to my brother, my friend, @BarackObama. pic.twitter.com/0faYjvnPW6
