Today, the American Lung Association in Illinois announced that more than 20 local businesses have come together to support the fight against lung disease. Companies including Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois, Ameren and U.S. Bank are among the many sponsors for the annual Springfield Golf Classic.

The Springfield Golf Classic is set for June 17 at the Illini Country Club. The event features two main events, the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois Corporate Cup and the Golf Classic Scramble. New this year is the LUNG FORCE Foursome, a team that brings together women business leaders who are passionate about raising awareness for lung cancer in women.

“The fight for clean air and healthy lungs impacts us all, so I am proud to say that over the years, the Springfield Golf Classic has raised more than $1.6 million to support the local Lung Association,” said Corporate Cup Chair Scott Alexander from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois. “It’s an event that we not only look forward to playing in but are honored to be a part of to help support the fight against lung disease.”
