Nearly 9 Pounds Of Cocaine Found During Springfield Traffic Stop
Police reported Colorado man with nearly 9 lbs. of drugs being held on $1.5 million bond after being pulled over in Springfield Dec. 29.

SPRINGFIELD, IL — A Colorado man was charged with several drug charges this week after he was arrested in Springfield Saturday, Dec. 29 when police found nearly 9 pounds of a substance that included cocaine during a traffic stop, The State Journal-Register said, according to police. The news report said that according to Sangamon County State’s Attorney Dan Wright, 29-year-old Angel Soto, a Denver-area resident, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance and controlled substance trafficking.
Soto is being held in the Sangamon County Jail on $1.5 million bond after the drugs were found last weekend during a traffic stop by Illinois State Police on Interstate 72 near Veterans Parkway.
According to The State Journal-Register, Wright said Soto faces potential penalties of 120 years in prison and $1 million in fines.
