Plane Makes Emergency Landing On I-55 In Lawndale
The plane's nose is blocking the left lane of northbound traffic.

LAWNDALE, IL — Traffic is jammed in one direction on I-55 in Lawndale after a plane was forced to make an emergency landing on the highway. The Cessna 182 landed near mile marker 133, with its nose jutting across the highway's left lane, Illinois Department of Transportation reports.

The plane was reportedly only occupied by its pilot, who was en route to make a landing in Logan County. As of 4:10 p.m., the left lane of northbound traffic was closed as crews worked to remove the plane.
A single-engine Cessna 182 carrying one person landed on I-55 while attempting to land at Logan County Airport in Lincoln, IL. Please contact local officials for information about injuries or damage. The #FAA will investigate.
