Springfield’s 4th Of July Fireworks 2020 Canceled
Springfield's traditional Fourth of July events were canceled due to COVID-19.
SPRINGFIELD, IL – July 4 events across the country will not look the same this year thanks to the coronavirus. Many cities and towns have been forced to cancel the annual Fourth of July events, including Springfield. The Jaycees, a youth leadership organization, announced it would be canceling its fireworks show this year:
"We understand that the downtown fireworks are a tradition that many of you look forward to every summer and we truly regret that we are unable to provide them this summer, but based on current protocols we do not feel we can safely provide the same level of entertainment and safe community fun while maintaining social distancing and obeying the Governor’s orders for gatherings," Jaycee's website says.
