Bobcats Cheer Team Recognized For State Championship
Village trustees passed a resolution to honor the local cheer squad.

TINLEY PARK, IL — A Tinley Park Bobcats cheerleading team was recognized for their successful finish at the state tournament last year. Village trustees adopted a resolution on Tuesday recognizing the Bobcats' fifth grade Division C cheerleading team that won third place in the 2019 Illinois Recreational Cheerleading Association state championship on Dec. 8 in Hoffman Estates and a seventh grade team that won a state championship.
The resolution indicated March 3, 2020 would be dedicated "Tinley Park Bobcats Day" in recognition of the achievements. The seventh grade team won a back-to-back state championship, family of team members have said.
The team was coached by Dawn Lacy. Assistant and junior coaches include Melissa Crowe, Brenda Nelson, Amaya Lacey, Peyton Nelson and Caroline Roney.
