CCSS Auxiliary Hosts Virtual Walk Against Domestic Violence
The Crisis Center for South Suburbia Auxiliary is hosting a Virtual Walk Against Domestic Violence. Donations can be made through August.

Over the past 12 years the Crisis Center for South Suburbia Auxiliary has raised more than $115,000 to support domestic violence programs and services at the Crisis Center by hosting a variety of successful events. The Auxiliary’s annual Walk Against Domestic Violence usually takes place in August at Lake Katherine in Palos Heights, but this year due to the pandemic the organization is hosting a virtual event.
In lieu of registration, supporters can select a giving opportunity to help victims of domestic violence. Donors can give online at AuxWalk2020.givesmart.com or mail a check to Crisis Center Auxiliary, P.O. Box 174, Palos Park, IL, 60464. Donation levels are listed on the website, but gifts in any amount are welcome.
“Every donation to our Virtual Walk directly supports victims of domestic violence. We know that people want to help others and make a difference now more than ever and we are thrilled to offer this opportunity to give, even though we cannot host our event this year,” said Crisis Center Auxiliary Board President Marie Kaminski.

The Auxiliary will collect funds through the end of August. All proceeds benefit the Crisis Center for South Suburbia. Auxiliary funding has supported the Crisis Center’s Emergency Services Program, which helps clients with car repairs, prescriptions, transportation and more; the Safe Start Teen Dating Violence Prevention Program; and meals for clients on special occasions such as Mother’s Day.
The Crisis Center for South Suburbia’s mission is to provide emergency shelter and other essential services for individuals and families victimized by domestic violence and to address the societal issues that contribute to domestic violence. The Crisis Center has impacted the lives of more than 60,000 people since it was founded 41 years ago.
