Governing.com took a look at which states have the highest and lowest student enrollments using data from the 2013-2014 school year. But we decided to take a deeper look at these statistics and what it means for you.

The numbers themselves aren’t surprising. States with a bigger population have higher student enrollments than smaller states. But the difference is stark when comparing how states divide their student population into school districts.
