Melting ice has been seen from falling from the upper levels of downtown Chicago skyscrapers Thursday.

CHICAGO — Melting ice falling from downtown skyscrapers Thursday is responsible for the closing of several downtown streets, according to city officials. Ice chunks have been seen plummeting from the Willis Tower and the former John Hancock Center.
The following streets have been closed because of falling ice:
- Delaware Place, from Michigan Avenue to Mies Van Der Rowe Way
- Superior Street, from Wells to LaSalle streets
- Franklin Street, from Madison to Washington streets, is closed to pedestrian traffic. It had been closed to street traffic, but it is now open.
