Man Accused of Toppling Fountain in Downtown Tinley Park
The 32-year-old Tinley Park resident allegedly knocked over the fountain in the pre-dawn hours Sunday.

TINLEY PARK, IL — A 32-year-old man's very foolish alleged decision is on (somewhat) permanent display in downtown Tinley Park.
Daniel McDonald, of Tinley Park, faces one count of criminal damage to property, a Class 2 felony, after allegedly knocking over Tinley's treasured fountain on Oak Park Avenue.
The fountain, which serves as a centerpiece for Zabrocki Plaza, remains upended for the time being, a reminder of impulsiveness following a night of imbibing along Oak Park Avenue — a judgment call that caused an approximate $10,000 in damage to the water feature.

It might be a while before it's repaired or replaced, writes Daily Southtown's Ted Slowik, as officials weigh their options. It's not the first time it has come tumbling down, as it was knocked over once before in 2010. That time, it cost $37,935 to replace.
Easily spotted from the nearby Oak Park Avenue Metra station, the fountain is the focal point of the plaza, a favorite spot during farmers markets, outdoor concerts, holiday events and family festivities.

But if it's so easily overturned, should it be replaced with an identical one? Or should the village consider other options for the plaza's visual centerpiece? Tell us in the comments.
