Masked Man Robs Tinley Park Gas Station

The man showed a weapon that was described as black-barreled and a foot in length, covered in a towel. Incident took place early Thursday.

TINLEY PARK, IL — A man brandishing what witnesses described as a foot-long "black barrel" weapon robbed a gas station in Tinley Park early Thursday.

Police were called around 2:30 a.m. for a report of an armed robbery at Speedway, 7201 183rd St. The suspect is described as a black male of unknown age, 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-6, of medium build with almond-shaped eyes. He was wearing a dark green hoodie and black ski mask.

A witness told police the weapon — described as 12 to 14 inches in length — was obscured by a towel, said Police Chief Steve Neubauer.

The offender fled southbound in a dark-colored sedan. No one was injured in the incident.
