Metra To Add Number Signs On Platforms, Including Tinley Park
Metra will be adding new signs to their platforms to help make the commute easier for riders while boarding, including both Tinley stops.

TINLEY PARK, IL — Metra will be adding number signs to their platforms to help make the commute for riders in and out of the area an easier experience, by understanding which side of the track to board.
The Rock Island Line is one of the Metra routes that will be implementing these new signs. The line runs from Joliet, all the way to the South Loop in Chicago. Both Tinley Park Metra locations, 18001 80th Ave. and 6700 South St., is included in this route.
The Village of Tinley Park shared the development on its Facebook page, seen below.

Metra Spokesman, Michael Gillis, told Patch the new edition is helpful for those who are new to Metra or get confused when riding boarding the train.
"We have two or more platforms going in either direction at most of our stops," Gillis said. " We have signs but we are now adding these new ones to make it more user friendly. They will be on light polls so that all can see which platform they are on, easily."

The Village of Tinley Park explained in their Facebook post that the signs will be installed approximately 150 ft. apart.
According to Gillis, since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Metra has reduced their ride schedule to 54 percent of what it was initially. They also implement social distancing guidelines.
"We have two-seater chairs on the bottom halves of our cars, we ask riders to sit one person to each two-seater," Gillis said. "Everyone must wear a mask in the entirety of their trip. We also have touchless hand sanitizer and recommend riders use the mobile Ventra App to purchase their tickets so there is no contact with the conductors."
Gillis does not have an exact date the signs will be up but noted that Metra began to implement the number signs at some of the stations on Tuesday.
"We don't know when just yet but we anticipate to be done this fall," Gillis said.
