MKF Awards $21,000 in Scholarships

The Matthew Kocher Foundation Awarded $21,000 in Scholarships This Year to Deserving Seniors

The Matthew Kocher Foundation is pleased to announce this year's scholarship recipients. Each year, the Matthew Kocher Foundation Scholarships are awarded to honor the memory of Matthew Kocher. Matt was only fifteen when he drowned in Lake Michigan in the summer of 2013. As a Freshman at V.J. Andrew High School, he was an honor student, three-sport athlete and heavily involved in community service. These accomplished graduating seniors exemplify Matt's commitment to academic excellence, involvement in school activities and community service. The 2018 scholarship recipients are Phillip Baggio, Victoria Belotti, Jacquelyn Buryj, Sean Callaghan, Caitlin Herald and Brian Weber from V.J. Andrew High School in Tinley Park, and Ramona Bourjas, Madison McDaniel, Jason MaIntyre and Janiyah Williams from H.L. Richards High School in Oak Lawn.

Thanks to the generosity of family, friends and local businesses, the Matthew Kocher Foundation has awarded over $80,000 in scholarships to outstanding students since 2013. In addition to the scholarship program, the Foundation provides water safety presentations for area schools and promotes community service.
