New Face Added to Wall of Fame

Laura Bachman, long-time Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent and Secretary for the Board of Education, was placed on the District 146 Wall of Fame on June 8. Bachman is retiring at the end of July after more than two decades with the District.

“For the last 22 years, Laura has been the person behind the scenes making sure everything runs smoothly,” said Dr. Jeff Stawick, Superintendent. “Laura is a consummate professional who can handle any situation with kindness and grace. We’ve all been lucky to work with Laura and wish her the very best in her retirement.”

A resolution read by Board President Darcy Nendza was unanimously approved by the Board. A plaque with Bachman’s name and photo was added to the District 146 Wall of Fame immediately after. Bachman was also presented with a plaque and framed copy of the resolution.

Throughout her time at District 146, Bachman has served under three Superintendents and numerous Boards of Education. According to the resolution, she has consistently treated all people with kindness and helpfulness and is held in the highest esteem by her peers. It goes on to say that Bachman and “the extension of her work will have a lasting impact on the greater good of our District, our community, and our families.”

“I am honored and grateful to be recognized,” said Bachman. “It’s been a wonderful 22 years at District 146. They say if you love what you do, you never have to work a day in your life, and I truly enjoyed my years at District 146. Thank you to Dr. Stawick and the Board of Education for this wonderful recognition. It is heartfelt for sure.”

The District 146 Wall of Fame was created in 2011 and Bachman joins 18 other teachers, staff members, and administrators on the wall.

Community Consolidated School District 146 is comprised of Central Middle School, Fierke Education Center, Fulton School, Kruse Education Center, and Memorial School. Students from Tinley Park, Orland Park, and Oak Forest attend District 146 schools.
