New Leadership for District 146 Board
Four members were sworn in and new officers were elected at the Board of Education's May Committee of the Whole meeting.
On May 3, the District 146 Board of Education swore in four members. Julie Berry and Rick Lloyd were re-elected in the April election, and Patty Chlada and Jill Dunlap were newly elected.
“Julie and Rick bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Board and we are lucky to have them back,” said Dr. Jeff Stawick, Superintendent. “We are also very excited to welcome our new members Patty and Jill. They have been very active in their schools and I know they will bring great energy to the Board.”
Julie Berry has been on the Board of Education for six years and has served as Board Secretary since 2019. She is a former fourth grade teacher at Kruse Education Center and has been active in Fulton’s PTO, Central’s PACT, the District 146 Band Parents Association, and a number of other organizations. She and her husband have four children and live in Tinley Park.

Newly elected Board member Patty Chlada is very active in the community coaching youth volleyball, leading Girl Scouts, and as a Religious Education teacher at St. Julie’s Church. She is an administrative office manager and lives in Orland Park with her husband and three children.
Jill Dunlap was also elected to the board in April. She is active in Fulton’s PTO, Central’s PACT, and as a volunteer in class rooms and field trips. She is also involved in the Tinley Park Bulldogs and Bobcats. She is an optometrist who, with her husband and four children, lives in Tinley Park.

Originally appointed to the Board in 2018, Rick Lloyd was elected in 2019 and reelected this April. He is an accountant by trade, and a past Board member of the Twin Hearts Autism Foundation. He and his wife have three children and live in Orland Park.
Following the swearing in, a new roll call was taken and the members nominated and voted on new Board officers.
The Board voted unanimously to elect Darcy Nendza as the new Board President. Nendza has been on the Board since 2015 and served previously as the board Secretary and Vice President. She is a resident of Oak Forest with her husband and two sons.
Berry was unanimously elected Vice President. The Board also unanimously selected Lloyd as Secretary.
“At District 146, we have always been lucky to have a dedicated Board of Education that works tirelessly for our families and community,” said Dr. Jeff Stawick, Superintendent. “I look forward to working with the new Board to continue bringing our families the quality education they expect from District 146.”
Community Consolidated School District 146 is comprised of Central Middle School, Fierke Education Center, Fulton School, Kruse Education Center, and Memorial School. Students from Tinley Park, Orland Park, and Oak Forest attend District 146 schools.
