TINLEY PARK, IL — Tinley Park residents who didn’t buy their vehicle stickers by the June 30 deadline will have until Aug. 1 to do so without receiving a police citation. On Aug. 1, the Tinley Park Police Department will begin ticketing violators.
“The Village has established a one-month grace period to encourage those who haven’t purchased their vehicle stickers to do so,” Village Clerk Patrick E. Rea said. “The late fees still will apply, but tickets will not be issued for lack of compliance until Aug. 1.”
The Village has sold about 29,000 vehicle stickers so far this year, which represents the lowest number sold in four years. Decreasing sales are in part due to the shrinking population of Cook County.
“Revenues from vehicle sticker sales go toward road maintenance, and in fairness, all of the users of our local roads should be paying their share,” Rea said.
Stickers are sold from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.Saturdays at Village Hall, 16250 S. Oak Park Ave., Tinley Park. Stickers also are sold 24 hours a day at the Tinley Park Police Department, 7850 W. 183rd St.
Schedule of 2016-17 late fees:
· Passenger auto, van and recreational vehicle: $45
· Truck, one ton or less: $60
· Truck, more than one ton: $95
· Bus or taxi: $70
· Motorcycle: $20
· Senior citizen passenger auto: $3
