Oak Park Avenue Train Crossing To Close For Track Repairs

The Tinley Park construction is part of a larger Metra project to replace aging bridges and build new track segments across its 11 lines.

TINLEY PARK, IL — The railroad crossing at Tinley Park's Oak Park Avenue train station will be closed from beginning Tuesday so Metra can replace the tracks in both directions, the village announced. The repairs should last until Aug. 31.

During the track work, drivers will not be able to cross the construction area. Oak Park Avenue at the station will only be open to local traffic, and detours at 171st and 183rd streets will send motorists around the construction to Harlem Avenue.

Metra's work project at the station is part of the transit agency's larger plan to replace aging bridges and building new track segments, the village said. Along with the Oak Park Avenue station, the project includes work on 30 stations, 15 bridges and 21 road crossings along 11 Metra lines, the village added.
