TINLEY PARK, IL — A fierce storm ripped through the area late Monday afternoon, knocking over trees, moving furniture and producing hail in some areas. Some surrounding towns also had power outages.

Thousands are still without power in areas across the region, including Tinley Park, Orland Park, Oak Forest, Chicago Heights and Homewood-Flossmoor, according to Commonweath Edison. Many are heading outside to clean up the damage.

Oak Forest police are currently clearing roads that have been blocked off, such as 151st and Cicero. Several homes have been struct with trees, and power lines have fallen on the road. It is expected that clean up will go late into the night. Residents are out of power in scattered areas and some might be out of power until Aug. 15, according to ComEd.
