Tinley Brings in Outside Help in Search for New Fire Chief
Firm touts success in prior searches, essentially guarantees same for Village.

TINLEY PARK, IL — Tinley Park trustees this week approved hiring an outside firm to help with the Village's search for a new fire chief.
The Village will pay the Mercer Group $20,500 to organize the search, which will consider candidates both within and outside the department to replace former chief Ken Dunn, Daily Southtown reports. Dunn retired at the end of June.
The firm has a recruited more than 2,000 public sector executives ranging from fire and police chiefs to assistant and deputy chiefs in both departments.

As part of the agreement, Mercer told trustees that if the chief chosen through their search leaves during the first two years, that the firm would start from scratch and not charge for the new search.
