Tinley Mayor Will Seek Full Term

Current mayor joined by longtime clerk and newbie trustee on the slate.

TINLEY PARK, IL — Tinley Park Mayor David Seaman this spring will look for voters' approval to continue as mayor of Tinley Park. Seaman runs with the Tinley First slate, which includes incumbent Village Clerk Pat Rea, Seaman will run with Jeff Ficaro, a banking executive; Mark Moylan, an insurance agent and member of the village's Plan Commission; and Kevin Suggs, Bremen Township's Republican committeeman who was appointed to the Village Board in May.

Mayor Dave Seaman, 63, served as trustee since 1984 before being appointed mayor to replace Ed Zabrocki, who stepped down after 34 years. Seaman is a healthcare executive with financial and administrative expertise. He has held governance positions as a member of the board of directors at local, regional and national levels having chaired the Illinois Division of the American Cancer Society and serving as a member of a local bank board of directors. Seaman served 39 years in the US military as both enlisted and as a commissioned officer, retiring at the rank of Colonel. He and his wife Rosemary have lived in Tinley Park for 40 years. They are members of St. George Church have three adult children – Anthony, Rachel and Christopher.

Clerk Pat Rea, 76, was named clerk in May 2009 after 37 years as trustee. From 1980 until May 2009, he was Chairman of the Village’s Finance and Economic Development Committee. Pat was appointed Regional Administrator for the Small Business Administration’s Midwest Region by President George W. Bush in November 2003 and held that position through January 2009. Before joining SBA, he was Executive Director for the Illinois Development Finance Authority as a member of the Governor’s Cabinet. Previously, he served as a Vice President and Corporate Banker of Bank One Capital Markets. Pat is a retired Brigadier General in the U.S. Army Reserve. He also received the 2004 Secretary of Defense Medal of Outstanding Public Service Award. His undergraduate and graduate degrees are from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. Pat has two sons. His oldest son, daughter-in-law and three grandchildren live in Tinley Park. Rea’s youngest son lives in Moscow, Russia.

Trustee candidate Jeff Ficaro, 40, is a vice president with Standard Bank and Trust Company. He served in the United States Marine Corps, participating in overseas operations. After receiving his Honorable Discharge, Jeff studied Political Science at Northern Illinois University. Ficaro previously held a position on the Tinley Park Chamber Board of Directors for 10 years, with one year as President. He served on the School District 140 Board, and for 7 years on several village commissions. Ficaro is a board member with the Disabled Patriot Fund, and Northwest Indiana Veterans Action Council and a member of the Tinley VFW, American Legion, and Marine Corps League. He and his wife Amy have two daughters, and are members of St. Stephen’s Church in Tinley Park.

Trustee candidate Mark Moylan, 49, is a State Farm agent who operates his business on Oak Park Avenue in Tinley Park. Moylan attended Moraine Valley Community College and graduated with an Accounting degree from Loyola University of Chicago. He has served as Treasurer on the Summit Hill Educational Foundation that raises money for the school district. He served as Board President for Brementowne Manor. Moylan organizes fundraising events for Tinley Wish and the Crisis Center for South Suburbia. He currently serves as a planning commissioner for Tinley Park. Moylan and his wife of 20 years Mary have lived in Tinley Park since 1999 and have 3 children, Kaitlyn, Megan and Jerry.

Trustee Kevin Suggs, 47, was appointed to the Tinley Park Village Board in May 2016 and chairs the Budget, Audit and Administration Committee of the Board. With more than 18 years of experience in the chemical and sales industry he has been a Senior Account Manager for Nexeo Solutions, LLC in Schaumburg since 2008. Before that he was regional product line manager at Cognis Nutrition and Heath in LaGrange and demand analyst at Rohm & Haas in Lansing. Trustee Suggs has experience as a volunteer serving on the Village's Economic and Commercial Commission as well as other leadership positions in community organizations. He received a bachelor of science degree in pre-med from the University of Notre Dame and a bachelor of arts degree in music and a master of fine arts degree in Theology from the DanEl Institute of Higher Learning in Tinley Park. He is a 19-year resident of Tinley Park.

These individuals are accomplished in both the public and private sectors with demonstrated track records and expertise – they will lead the Village forward building on a strong foundation in a spirit of transparency and best practices," said Mayor Dave Seaman. “We look forward to April elections as an opportunity to present new ideas and opportunities for the Village of Tinley Park."

Also running are the candidates of the Concerned Citizens for Tinley Park slate.
