Tinley Park Firefighters Rescue 2 Children From Fire
The Tinley Park Fire Department responded to the blaze in the 6500 block of W. 173rd Place late Tuesday morning.

TINLEY PARK, Ill. — Tinley Park firefighters rescued two children from a burning apartment building Tuesday, Dec. 1.

The Tinley Park Fire Department responded to the blaze in the 6500 block of W. 173rd Place late in the morning, according to a press release. Upon arrival, firefighters determined the fire was on the first floor of the two-story, four-unit building.
“Residents from the apartment building were outside and uninjured upon arrival,” the press release stated. “Crews located two children on the second floor and rescued them from their unit on ground ladders from a bedroom window. Medics treated and released the children at the scene.”

According to the press release, the Tinley Park Fire Department was assisted by the Oak Forest Fire Department and the Orland Fire Protection District.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing, however, the building has been determined to be “uninhabitable, displacing four families,” per the news release.
