Top 25 Elementary, Middle and High Schools in Illinois

SchoolDigger, a website that evaluates K-12 school performance, updated its rankings of the best elementary, middle and high schools in Illinois using the recently released Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) test scores.

The rankings rely heavily on standardized test scores, and only 33 percent of Illinois students who took the PARCC exam last spring met or exceeded expectations. PARCC is aligned with Illinois’ new and more rigorous Common Core learning standards, and replaced the previous state assessments, ISAT and PSAE.

As with any school ranking, it’s important to remember this is not a definitive list. Rankings vary depending on the methodology used, and standardized test scores arguably shouldn’t be the sole indicator of a good school — especially since many “elite schools” known for their academics struggled in the first year of PARCC testing.

Here are the Top 25 elementary, middle and high schools in Illinois, according to SchoolDigger’s latest rankings.
