Vogt Visual Arts Center Going Green with Upcoming Exhibit

Anyone can submit artwork. It's free to participate.

TINLEY PARK, IL — “Green” is the theme of the June exhibit at the Vogt Visual Arts Center (VVAC). What “green” means is up to interpretation, but according to Gallery Director Julie Dekker , “we expect a lot more 3D artwork for this show due to the fact that we are encouraging artists to use recyclable materials. In general we expect a larger variety of art, in addition to more traditional artwork.” This is an open show, meaning anyone can submit artwork to the show. This show is free to participate in and is non-juried. Most artists come from Tinley Park and surrounding areas.

A free reception for this exhibit takes place on June 4 from 1 to 4 p.m. The show will be available to view at the VVAC June 1 through June 30th. Throughout the month anyone who visits the exhibit will be able to vote on their favorite piece. At the end of the month a “People Choice Award” ribbon is presented to the winner.

On the same day from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. the 8th Annual VVAC Art Show and Sale will be taking place in the VVAC parking lot. Peruse the booths of over 25 local artist vendors. We will have everything from cards, jewelry and pottery to fine art prints and originals.
