What’s Open, Closed On New Year’s Day 2021 In Tinley Park

TINLEY PARK, IL — On New Year’s Day, residents in Tinley Park will leave behind a year marked by unprecedented hardship and challenges. After spending much of the year navigating the once-in-a-lifetime coronavirus pandemic, many will no doubt welcome 2021 with open arms.

As we ring in the new year in our town, many local facilities and government offices will take the day off to recognize the start of the new year.

Here’s a look at what’s open and closed in Tinley Park on New Year’s:

Village Hall — Opened as a half-day on New Year's Eve and closed New Year's Day.

Library — The Tinley Park Public Library will be closed on New Year's Eve and Day.

Postal Office — This is a federal holiday and all U.S. Postal Service post offices will be closed Friday, Jan. 1. No mail will be delivered or sent. Regular business hours will resume Saturday, Jan. 2.

Schools — Tinley Park schools are on winter break. District 146 resumes Jan. 11, both District 140 and D228 resumes Jan. 7 and District 230 resumes Jan. 8.

Circuit Court of Cook County — The courts are closed on both New Year's Eve and Day.

However, if you’re hoping to step out for some socially distanced shopping or dining, there are several stores and chain restaurants that will be open on New Year’s Day.
