What's Open And Closed In Tinley Park Labor Day 2019

TINLEY PARK, IL — The dog days of summer are winding down, and we get one last weekend before the school year and fall activities get into full swing. Labor Day 2019 is Monday, Sept. 2. And while it's a day of rest and relaxation for many, it's also a federal holiday, meaning many local services and offices will be closed.

Here's a roundup of what's closed and what will be open during your Labor Day holiday.

Most big-box retailers will be open —and many are offering Labor Day deals— but smaller businesses and mom and pop stores might be closed, so it's a good idea to call ahead.

In Tinley Park

Government: the village hall at 16250 S. Oak Park Avenue, will be closed on Monday. It will reopen at 8:30 a.m. Tues., Sept. 3.

Tinley Park-Park District: White Water Canyon Water Park will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday. The Tinley Junction Mini Golf and Batting Cages are open 12 to 6 p.m.

Schools: No classes for Kirby School District 140, Arbor Park School District 145, Community Consolidated School District 146, Elementary School District 159, Summit Hill School District 161, Lincoln-Way High School District 210, Bremen High School District 228 and Consolidated School District 230.

Postal Service: No mail service, and post offices will be closed.

Trash Pickup: Garbage collection will be delayed until the next day because of the holiday. Go to Homewood Disposal Service's website for more information.
