Apartment Complex Uninhabitable After Fire
The fire appears to have started in the laundry room of the six-unit apartment building, fire officials said.

VERNON HILLS, IL – A six-unit apartment building in Vernon Hills has been deemed uninhabitable after a fire broke out in the laundry room of the complex Tuesday night, authorities said. The Countryside Fire Protection District was called to the three-story building in the 200 block of Court of Shorewood shortly after 8 p.m. on Tuesday, the Daily Herald reports. All residents were able to safely get out before fire crews arrived and no injuries were reported, according to the Vernon Hills Review.
Fire crews were able to save a bird and a dog from the blaze, Countryside Lt. Russ Bach told the Vernon Hills Review. The fire caused $50,000 in damage.
