VERNON HILLS, IL -- Vernon Hills High School's Rust-Oleum Field was packed Wednesday night as area Chicago Bears fans welcomed the professional team. The Bears held a pre-season practice session on the field from 6 to 8:50 p.m. as part of their Varsity Bears outreach program.

Meanwhile, the Cougars headed to Halas Hall, the Lake Forest facility that serves as the Bears' headquarters, to practice on Wednesday.

Tickets sold out quickly for the free event in Vernon Hills. Earlier this summer, Vernon Hills Police Chief Patrick Kreis estimated 5,000 would pack the Vernon Hills field.
