French Market to Open in Vernon Hills in June

A French-themed market featuring imported goods and artisan crafts is anticipated to open in Vernon Hills in the parking lot of the Metra train station in June.

How chic! Vernon Hills is just months away from welcoming an open-air French market where customers can buy imported foods, crafts, specialty items and more from a variety of vendors, reports the Chicago Tribune.

A recruitment event was held last month at the Aspen Drive Library by Bensidoun USA, a company that markets and develops French markets in Paris, New York and Chicago, reported Patch.

It was Vernon Hills resident and artisan Karen Duffley who discovered the company and brought the concept to the Village of Vernon Hills, according to the Tribune.

"This will be a very nice opportunity for the community to come to a central meeting spot on a weekly basis or visit with their neighbors," said Bensidoun's Midwest manager, Leslie Cahill to the Chicago Tribune. "It will be a very colorful addition to the community."

The French market is anticipated to open June 1 and run through October in the Metra parking lot.
