A gold coin was found in a Salvation Army kettle in Arlington Heights, the Daily Herald reported.
The coin was worth $750 and was dropped in a kettle at Mariano's, 802 E. Northwest Highway. Each year the Salvation Army receives gold coins. Earlier this year gold coins were found in Lake Zurich, the Chicago Tribune reported. In the last 25 years, the Salvation Army has received more than 400 gold coins.
The Daily Herald reported that so far this year 20 gold coins have been found in the Chicago area with a total value of about $11,242.
