Hawthorn PTO Donates $25,000 to Increase Access to Home Learning

The Hawthorn PTO donated $25,000 to help Hawthorn District 73 students access home learning resources.

As part of the Hawthorn PTO’s annual distribution to the district, $25,000 is being provided now to offset the costs of Hawthorn District 73’s technology purchases in support of remote learning. These funds help close the technology gap by ensuring that all of the District’s students and families have the tools they need to access remote learning.

“We truly appreciate the PTO’s support,” said the District’s superintendent, Dr. Peter Hannigan. “One of our top priorities during these challenging times is to maintain a continuity of learning for our students. This gift helps us educate and assist all of our students, including students from underserved communities who otherwise could have been left behind when we switched to remote learning.”

The Hawthorn PTO’s mission is to enhance the education of the District’s students by promoting the connection between home, school and the community. On an annual basis, the organization raises funds that go toward District 73 programs, books, and educational materials.

Hawthorn School District #73 is a preschool through eighth-grade public school district serving approximately 4,200 students. It serves all or portions of the communities of Vernon Hills, Mundelein, Libertyville, Indian Creek and unincorporated areas of Lake County, Illinois.
