Man With Knife Tasered at High School Football Stadium

The man ran into Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire as police chased him into the bleachers Friday night.

VERNON HILLS, IL — A man with a knife who ran through the football stadium at Stevenson High School Friday night was chased by police and subdued with a Taser.

Denzel King, 22, of Vernon Hills, charged with resisting arrest and criminal trespass, was booked into the Lake County jail.

Officers initially responded to a report of a possibly suicidal man and a domestic battery at a residence at about 8 p.m., according to police, but King already had left the residence. He was spotted walking toward the high school, and when he arrived at the stadium security asked him to stay outside at about 8:35 p.m., police said.

But he ran toward the bleachers when Lincolnshire police arrived. As he moved through the crowd, according to a police statement, the officers kept ordering him to stop. As he moved toward the field, police said, officers were forced to hit him with a Taser shot.
